The reaction started ten minutes after catalyst being put into plant at 20:50 pm of July 19. And acceptable particles of polyethylene started to come on 23:55 pm, which means the whole process flow of the 450,000 t/a polyethylene plant is made through. The plant is the coal-to-oil olefins project phase II of Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group, for which the basic design, detailed design and procurement are all undertaken by Ningbo Engineering Company.

The 450,000 t/a polyethylene plant adopts the gas phase polyethylene process of American UNIVATION, the first plant of this kind. It mainly consists of raw material refining unit, T2 unit, reaction unit, extrusion granulation unit, blending unit and exhaust recovery unit, etc. The field design representative associated the owner in the whole process of plant start-up and was highly praised by the owner.
