Wuhan 800,000t/y Ethylene Project

Wuhan 800,000t/y Ethylene Project is the first large scale ethylene project in the central region of China, which was checked and approved by National Development and Reform Commission, this project is the key project of SINOPEC "the 11th five year-plan", it use Chinese self-owned technology. Wuhan ethylene project can alleviate the domestic demand for petrochemical products and speed up the development of central region and accelerate "Wuhan City Circle" economic integration, improve Wuhan's industry structure, build up a strong center city economic strength and speed up the pace of "rise of central China".


SNEC mainly undertook 7 plants of Wuhan Ethylene Project and there are 5 EPC sections, in which, air compression station belong to PC project; the projects undertook mainly is utility, except that liner low density PE plant is production plant, the others are utility plants, i.e. 300,000t/y linear low density PE (LLDPE), 3×360t/h high pressure CFB boiler +2×65MW turbine generator+1×160t/h auxiliary boiler heat and power cogeneration plant, 25000Nm³/h of air separation unit,58500m³/h water volume of the 2nd circulating water field, water handling capacity is 1250t/h of chemical water treatment, filtration capacity is 800t/h turbine condensate and 500t/h process condensate of condensate recovery, instrument air 41880Nm³/h, plant air 23970Nm³/h and coke cleaning air 44000Nm³/h of air compression station. The project undertaken by SNEC is very important for the whole Wuhan Ethylene Project production and operation, which render steam and partial power, nitrogen, oxygen and air for the whole ethylene project. Meanwhile, linear low density PE can produce 11 brands of linear low density resin material. 


On June 25, SNEC received authorization of detailed design from Owner; On September 15, the first pile foundation was done; During October of 2010 and March of 2011, SNEC signed EPC contracts of each plant; On October 30, 2011, SNEC finished detailed engineering design; On May 8, 2012, air compression station realized intermediate handover, On July 3, 2011, the 2nd circulating water field realized intermediate handover; On July 10, chemical water treatment plant realized intermediate handover; On November 14, 2012, condensate recovery plant realized intermediate handover; On December 5, 2012, linear low density PE realized intermediate handover; On December 26, 2012, air separation unit realized intermediate handover, heat and power cogeneration plant realized whole intermediate handover on December 28, 2012. Since start up of each plant, performance test was carried out for these plants, during test, each performance index reach the design requirements with steady system running, especially heat and power cogeneration plant obtained affirmation and appraisal from Owner and win a good reputation for SNEC.
