The Company Signed the EPC Contract with SABIC IBB

On the afternoon of August 2local time in Saudi Arabia, the company signed the EPC contract for thereliability improvement project of IBB ammonia plant with IBN AL-BAYTAR (orIBB) at the administration building of SABIC SAFCO. The contract was signed byWang Hongguang, the deputy general manager of Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co.,Ltd., together with the person-in-charge of the project and the general managerof SEG’s branch company at Saudi Arabia.

IBN AL-BAYTAR (or IBB) is aproducer of synthetic ammonia, urea and compound fertilizer. The project isaimed to upgrade the plant by enhancing the production capacity from 1,575metric ton/day to 1,650 metric ton/day (min.) using 6100MMSCFD natural gas asraw material for producing synthetic ammonia, while at the same time improvingoperation reliability and energy efficiency and realizing sustainability.

The company set up a bidteam for quotation work immediately after receiving ITB (Invitation to Bid) onFebruary 15. The team completed related work in no more than two months,including field survey and enquiry for procurement, construction and design subcontracting,and the preparation of technical bid, implementation bid and commercial bid.

In spite of the fierce competition at Saudi Arabiamarket, the company won the bid for the project by competitive price based onrounds of strict review and careful analysis of cost & risks.

It’s the first time NingboEngineering Company undertakes an EPC contract for an overseas plant. Thecompany will have to face all kinds of challenges although it’s not alarge-scale project. However, the project will lay a solid foundation forNingbo Engineering Company to further expand into the Middle East market anddevelop overseas businesses.
