The Meeting on theApplication of Pipe Material Grade Specification was held by the engineeringdepartment of Sinopec Group at the company on November 26, which aimed forenhancing the level of design intrinsic safety. Attendants to the meetingincluded leaders and experts from ten companies, including the engineeringdepartment and material & equipment department of Sinopec Group, SEG,Engineering Construction Company, Luoyang Engineering Company, NingboEngineering Company, Shanghai Engineering Company, Nanjing Engineering Company,Sinopec Petroleum Engineering Design Co., Ltd. and Sinopec Yingke Company.

The EngineeringConstruction Company, on behalf of several engineering companies directlysubordinated to Sinopec Group, reported work on compiling Sinopec General PipeMaterial Grade Specification. Thanks to years of efforts by these companies, atotal 526 items of pipe material grade have been compiled, which fall into fivegroups including engineering, oil refining, chemical, coal chemical and thegathered and long-distance transmission of oil and gas, and all of the itemshave been input into SPRD system. Sinopec Yingke Company made a report of thesoftware system of Pipe Material Grade Specification as well as the management,operation and maintenance of the system.

The companies attending themeeting had a full discussion on the Rules for Selecting Pipe Material Gradeand the Rules for Sinopec General Pipe Material Grade Specification, and putforward appropriate comments on modification and improvement. They alsodiscussed about the application of the Specification and reached a preliminaryagreement. At last, a leader from Sinopec head office declared a general planfor work to be done in the following stage. The meeting laid a solid foundationfor the official release of Sinopec General Pipe Material Grade Specificationand its application into projects.
