The central square of Zhenhai No. 3 Construction Company’sCommunity was crowded with people on November 11 because a campaign titled“Donate Your Clothes and Bring Warm to People at Border Areas” was taking placethere, which aimed to encourage people to donate winter clothes to peopleliving at poverty-stricken border areas.

The continuous stream ofresidents from the community who came to donate clothes gave a great supportthe campaign. Ms. Jin, a retired elder woman, donated two big packages of oldclothes to a volunteer while pushing a baby carriage. Another elder said, “wehave lots of old clothes, both of kids and adults, but we don’t know how todispose them. It may not be appropriate if we give it to people as a gift, andit’s a waste if we just throw it away. Now we have the opportunity to make agood use of it. To donate the clothes to poor people at border areas may keepthem from cold, and it’s a good thing to help people.”

The donated articles rangedwidely from down coat, cotton clothes, sweater, overcoat, trousers to quilt.Many donators also helped volunteers to sort out the articles and have thempacked up according to ages and seasons. It’s very touching to see so manypeople coming together for helping others out. It’s a way to carry forward thetraditional virtues of Chinese people.

It’s learned that thecampaign was jointed organized by the party branch committees from the newscenter of Zhenhai district, the Jiaochuan street of Zhenhai district, ZhenhaiNo. 2 Hospital and the China Zhi Gong Party branch at Zhenhai, Ningbo.
